报告人简介:
Peter is a Professor (Genetics and Ecology) in the Science and Engineering Faculty and his expertise covers the general fields of population genetics and ecology. He completed a Bachelors degree in Behavioural Sciences and PhD in Zoology from LaTrobe University, Australia and from 2010 - 2012 was Head of School of Biogeosciences QUT. Currently, he is the leader of the Molecular Genetics Research Laboratory (MGRL) in the Science and Engineering Faculty. Professor Mather’s research examines genetic diversity in wild and cultured aquatic species and aquaculture genetics and genomics. Professor Mather has developed a national and international research profile in the Asia-Pacific region in aquaculture genetics with research directed at characterisation of wild and farmed aquatic genetic resources, optimisation of culture stock productivity, development of improved culture lines and identification of key genes and mutations that affect variation in important quantitative traits. Professor Mather has published more than 150 journal articles, book chapters and reviews and his work is widely cited. He is a member of the editorial boards of a number of international scientific journals and he has been an advisor for over 40 higher degree students.
